Pickleball players set up makeshift court blocking fire engine accessway in Mountbatten Sep 5, 2025 at 12:01am A group of people caused a stir at Mountbatten after allegedly setting up their own pickleball court near the void deck on Aug 24. Stomper Allie, who lives nearby, said the activity created 'intolerable' noise for residents. "We already have a community court that people book consecutively for pickleball throughout the week, which already generates considerable noise," she told Stomp. "This group went further by marking out their own venue next to the MRT station as well. I live right above, and the noise travelling up is intolerable. "It's inconsiderate behaviour." "There was a lot of pollution going on, and we live on a high floor," she said. Allie questioned if residents are even allowed to mark out their own courts. In response to a Stomp query, Marine Parade-Braddell Heights Town Council said it had not received prior feedback about pickleball activities at the fire engine accessway near Blocks 5 and 7 Pine Close. "During our site inspection, we did not observe any court markings or items left in the area," a town council spokesperson said. "Nonetheless, we will be putting up advisories to remind residents to keep the fire engine accessway clear at all times, so as to facilitate emergency response when needed." "For the safety of all residents, we would also like to remind players to use the designated courts for pickleball. "This helps to prevent obstruction in common areas, reduce the risk of accidents to passers-by and players, and avoid potential damage to property. "We will continue to monitor the situation closely."
